Day 2

Yesterday was Day 2 in my challenge.  We had had a busy day with a couple of outings and a bedtime with the babe that wasn't as smooth as normal - 2 things that usually would lead me to postpone a workout until the next day, but I couldn't just give up right away!  Not working out wasn't even an option!

The 2 workouts I did was this BodyRock one, I only did 20 reps/exercise (instead of the prescribed 50).  Some exercises I could've done 50 while others I was struggling to just to the 20!  Next time I think I'll do 30.  It took me about 15minutes so I followed it up with this Pop Pilates Intense Abs one which was super hard too.  So a great 25 minute intense strength focused workout!

In terms of my starting stats:

Weight: 173.6
Bust: 38
Waist: 32.5
Abs: 40
Hips: 40
Right Thigh: 23
Right Calve: 13.5
Right Arm: 12.5

Today on the menu is a swim!

New Challenge

Just finished training for a triathlon which ended up being a duathlon and it went amazing.  I did a lot better than I expected!!

Since Feb I've lost about 6 lbs.  This last 10lbs has been a lot harder to lose!!  I go through phases of eating right and phases of eating like shit.  Just trying to get it under control, which to me is a 80/20-90/10 ratio.

I've been contemplating starting some streaks - shred streaks, running streaks and today on my run thought I'm just going to go for it!  So I'm going to do a "100 days of Activity" challenge.

I'm pretty excited!  I came up with some rules and guidelines:

Rules
1. Must earn 4 AP+s/day:
    - 20+ min High Intensity
    - 40+ min Medium Intensity
    - 60+ min Low Intensity
2. Walks DO NOT count.
3. Type of Activity:
    - Running
    - Running w/stroller
    - Biking
    - Swimming
    - Bootcamp
    - Strength Training
    - Hiking
    - Yoga
    - Basketball
    - Cardio

I originally started with 20 minutes of exercise a day (which of High is 4 AP+) but wanted some more flexibility and didn't want to not do something (like Yoga) b/c it would be High Intensity.  Also, I remember from my 30 days of running streak that after a long hike having to then turn around and go for a run was really hard.  Plus, my legs were really sore by the end of it so the ability to do a 60 min Yoga session sounds like the healthiest thing to do.  But I didn't want a regular walk to count, not that I don't think that a walk isn't good exercise but I just do not want that to be fall back for me.

Tomorrow I'm going to take my measurements and measure those biweekly for now (may change to monthly later on) and will also record my weight once a week.  I'm hoping that the last few pregnancy pounds and then the last 15 lbs after that can be shifted with this.  My goal right now is to lose 10 lbs during this challenge  (an average of 0.7lbs/week).  My end goal is that this is great and I then go for 6 months and then 1 year and on!

Success!

All in all I would say I did great.  Out of 7 days, 6 days I accomplished 5 Fruit and Veggie servings a day!  I tracked during the week.  And I got in 3 workouts (walk, CX-30, Cardio Kickboxing)!

That resulted in a 1.2lb weight loss which I'm really happy about!    9.6lbs to reach my prepregnancy weight.  This week my added goal is to start counting points.  I'm not too concerned about meeting the target, just want to get used to tracking them!

Let's hope this week is just as successful as last week!

CX30

Today I got a chance to do the new CX30 by Les Mills.  It is a workout that is just 30 minutes and only focuses on the core areas (butt, abs, back, shoulders).  I wasn't able to do it all at once b/c of Nolan but I did get the full 30 minutes in and it felt great.  Hopefully it will help whittle my middle!

Yesterday I bought 3 new tops to go with my new jeans which makes me feel a lot better about myself, having some more options in clothes that fit!

Last week in review

Not the best week. I did 2 out of 3 cardio workouts and both of those were just walks. I am finding it tough to really get motivated, especially with Nolan not feeling so hot (still has a cold), with the cold weather, and not going out alot last week.

Run Talk

My mom came over yesterday which allowed me to go for a quick 20 min run!

I did 2 min running and 1 min walking for 7 intervals. Ran/walk for 2.6km, an avg of just over 8 min/km. Obviously not the best time but I'm only tracking it for the mileage so I'm not worried.

3rd run since Nolan was born and while they are tough it feels so great to be out there.

The Plan

To accomplish my Health and Fitness goals for the year I'm planning on taking it real slow. Each week I'm going to introduce something new either with eating or with exercise. If I have trouble with it I'll repeat it. To me this is a marathon not a sprint and with the addition of Nolan I don't want to stress myself over it! So for the month of January here is the plan:

Week 1: 3 cardio sessions, ideally running
Week 2: Track what I eat
Week 3: 3 10 minute mommy and baby strength training sessions
Week 4: Count points/calories whatever for Mon to Friday eats

Last week I ran twice and it felt so amazingly awesome. I need some runners, need to build up some more leg muscle and need to increase my endurance (ran 2 minutes at a time) but otherwise I felt great!

Going Forward

My goals for 2012 set out as ABC goals.

B) 160s for Nolan's first birthday

Looking Back

Looking back at the goals I made for last year - definitely changed due to having a baby!

Life:

1. Secure permanent employment - no but did secure my job with the Halton Catholic School Board which was where I wanted a job. Hopefully it leads to a perm job there!
2. Prepare for family - yep and then had a baby!
3. Go to Italy - no, went to Hawaii and New York City instead
4. Purchase rental property - decided against it.
5. Become more organized (in terms of cleaning!) - got somewhat better.

Fitness - none of these things happened due to getting pregnant in Feb.
1. Run a 10 mile race
2. Complete 2nd Triathlon (pending familial situation)
3. Bike Ride 100km

Health:
1. Back to Healthy Weight - Gained 40lbs with pregnancy
2. Make the switch to sustainable and natural meat choices - did this for Beef and are still sourcing out chicken.

Really I had 1 goal for 2011 and that was to get pregnant. So that was accomplished!
